Extraordinary Stories about Ordinary ThingsThe anglepoise lamp is just one of the archetypal designs celebrated in the Design Museum's Extraordinary Stories about Ordinary Things, a collection display devoted to contemporary design and architecture which opens on 30th January 2013. Everyday items like the anglepoise lamp, the post box, and the London 2012 logo are presented as examples of extraordinary design and emblems of modernism in an exhibition which offers a snapshot of modern day design. Sections include National Identity, Plastics and Modernism as well as Style Through The Decades, featuring fashion from the 70s to the 90s, from Carnaby Street to the Kings Road.

About Design Museum

Located on the banks of the Thames, the Design Museum has two floors and showcases contemporary design in all forms, including fashion, graphic and architectural. There are two main galleries, and the collections trace the history of design developments, from the origins of mass production to contemporary works. More about Design Museum
