FA Cup Final: Chelsea v Portsmouth

Chelsea take on Portsmouth in the FA Cup Final as the competition's previous two winners come head to head at Wembley for the final game of the domestic season. On paper it's the most one-sided of matches: by mid May, Chelsea, who beat Aston Villa 3-0 to reach the final, could well be crowned Premier League champions while Portsmouth, 2-0 extra-time victors over Tottenham in the semis but debt-ridden and in administration, have been relegated from the top flight after finishing bottom of the table. But this is the proverbial magic of the FA Cup, a competition where anything can happen - especially on a pitch as shoddy as that at Wembley. The game will have particular resonance for ever-suffering Pompey manager Avram Grant, whose brief tenure at Chelsea ended with the Champions League defeat by Manchester United two years back. Carlo Ancelotti, of course, will have his eyes on winning a double for Chelsea during his first year at the helm - and with the likes of Drogba, Anelka, Lampard and Malouda on the team sheet, few would bet against the holders retaining their crown.
