Part of Tate Britain's BP British Art Displays, Family Matters: The Family of British Art looks at how family life has been portrayed in British art over 400 years. It includes public displays of genealogy, depictions of private relationships, idealised visions of domesticity and images of the fragmented reality that can sometimes be family life. Displaying work from artists such as Bill Brandt, David Hockney and Michael Andrews, it's represents families as a vision of strength, a fragile unit and a depiction of questionable values.

About Tate Britain

Overlooking the River Thames, Tate Britain was originally founded through the philanthropy of the sugar magnate Sir Henry Tate. The Tate legacy now encompasses three other galleries around the UK, including Tate Modern also in London. Dedicated to showcasing Britain's artistic talent, Tate Britain is home to the greatest collection of British art from 1500 to the present day. More about Tate Britain
