With summer just around the corner, what better way to celebrate the changing weather patterns than with a candlelight performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons at St Martin-in-the-Fields. Performed by the Festive Orchestra of London with Catherine Manson on violin, this concert also features other Baroque masterpieces from Bach, Mozart and Pachelbel. A series of four concertos (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, each containing three movements), Vivaldi's Four Seasons is viewed as one of the great musical masterworks of all time, a triumph of pictorialism and uncanny rural evocation. The well-travelled and highly experienced Festive Orchestra give a unique insight into this wonderful repertoire, making this period performance one to put in your diary. Luckily, there will be other occasions to hear the Four Seasons and other Vivaldi work at St Martin's-in-the-Fields this May. Check the official website for a full May schedule.Programme:
Bach - Concerto for Two Violins in D minor
Mozart - Divertimento No 3 in F
Pachelbel - Canon and Gigue in D
Vivaldi - Concerto for Four Violins in B minor

About St Martin-in-the-Fields
This historic church of St Martin-in-the-Fields overlooking Trafalgar Square was built in 1726 and is the best known work of Scottish architect James Gibbs whose first public building was St Mary-le-Strand. The Palladian features of St Martin-in-the-Fields reveal the influence of Gibbs' training under the leading Roman architect of the time, Carlo Fontana. More about St Martin-in-the-Fields
