Floriculture: Flowers, Love and MoneyBeginning in 17th century Covent Garden, Floriculture tells the story of the cut flower trade from those early times, when the central London square was a flourishing fruit and veg market, to today's blooming £64 billion industry. The perfect way to spend Valentine's Day, the exhibition at the Garden Museum includes paintings which reveal the art of floristry and their symbolism. Not just pretty to look at, flowers play an important role in marriage, funerals and are often loaded with meaning. Examples used to illustrate changing tastes in floral design include the 1961 marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Kent and Shane Connolly's floral creations for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding in 2012.
