Oxford five-piece Foals celebrate the release of their second album, Total Life Forever, with this much anticipated gig at Electric Ballroom. Fronted by the charismatic Yannis Philippakis, Foals were one of the most exciting sounds to emerge at the back end of the last decade, their album Antidotes championed by the late Observer Music Monthly as "a perfectly executed debut". Renowned for their impromptu gigs in people's sitting rooms in Oxford and London, Foals, with their wacky dress sense and angular haircuts, hit the right note with the Skins generation of young, footloose pleasure-seekering minimalists. Total Life Forever is said to be less chaotic and mellower in comparison to its progressive math-rock predecessor. But one word of advice: don't ask the band their verdict. Recorded in Gothenburg, it has been described by Philippakis as "sort of like an inside-out chicken in glorious Technicolor, but a bit more vegetarian and a bit less fun" and sounding "like the dream of an eagle dying". Make what you make out of that. One thing's for certain - this gig is a complete sell-out so you'll have to hunt on Ebay if you're yet to get your mitts on a ticket.About Electric Ballroom
On weekends, The Electric Ballroom is transformed into a buzzing marketplace crammed with stalls, but during the evenings there's an entirely different kind of activity happening here. Open since 1978, this is one of Camden's longest-serving indie music venues. Hundreds of up and coming bands have taken to its stage. More about Electric Ballroom
