From Morning To MidnightDennis Kelly, the writer behind Matilda The Musical and TV shows Pulling and Utopia, recently made his Royal Court debut with The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas and now comes to the National with From Morning to Midnight. Played out on the National Theatre's Lyttelton stage last November, Kelly's version of Georg Kaiser's 20th century tragedy tells the tale of a bank clerk who falls under the spell of an exotically perfumed woman from Florence, finds some stolen money, shoves it in his pocket, and pursues the lady to her hotel. She refuses his mad advances, but the steady bank clerk is now determined to continue on his new-found, adventurous journey, seeking an experience worth buying into, a reason for living. About National Theatre: Lyttelton Theatre

The Lyttelton is one of three theatres which make up the National Theatre. It was built in a proscenium style, but has thoroughly modern sightlines and acoustics. There really is no bad seat here as there are no circle rails or view-blocking pillars. More about National Theatre: Lyttelton Theatre
