David Hare returns to the National Theatre with the latest crucifixion of New Labour and, by extension, the whole of contemporary British politics. It's a thinly disguised history of the minor scandal that engulfed Tessa Jowell during her divorce with David Mills, but, above all, Gethsemane is a depiction of a country where politicians, business and the media have become entwined in a way that makes conviction politics impossible. There's a national tour to follow and, with Tamsin Greig starring, every chance that this will have a West End run, but it'll be at its best in the intense, intimate confines of the Cottesloe.About National Theatre: Cottesloe Theatre
The Cottesloe Theatre is the black box studio space of the National Theatre. It is also the smallest, the simplest and the most flexible - and many people would argue that it is also the most influential. The dark, rectangular room holds up to 300 people.
