Global Beats FestivalFour days of uplifting world music from all over the globe comes to Wilton's Music Hall in East London at the Global Beats Festival. Following two successful weeks of live music in Wilton's Mahogany Bar, the Global Beats Festival switches to the auditorium for a wonderful programme of diverse acts and sounds. Curated by Planetman, the event celebrates the cultural diversity of London and features musicians from six continents, with acts from Senegal, USA, Italy, Nigeria, Venezuela, Portugal, Algeria, Congo, Brazil, Turkey, Greece, UK, Colombia, Israel, Yemen, Jamaica, Ghana, Armenia, Zimbabwe, New Zealand and Japan. Acts include Seddik Zabiri, whose Seeds of Creation band blend traditional Berber music fused with Afro-Blues, Jazz and Psychedelia; virtuosic guitarist Rodney Branigan; the wonderfully named DJ CousCous; self-taught accordion guru Jose Hernando; Abdul Tee-Jay's seven-piece Rokoto; Afrobeat Ambassador Dele Sosimi; and Global Beats Festival founder, curator and host, Planetman and his band The Internationalz. If anything's going to get you into the carnival spirit ahead of the annual Notting Hill bank holiday bonanza later in the month, this is it.

Two good Christian women entering Wilton's in 1884 found the environment so diabolical that, it is chronicled "they fell down on their knees... More about Wilton's Music Hall
