Great Animal Orchestra The Horniman Museum hosts the Great Animal Orchestra this summer, celebrating the sound of birds and animals through Bernie Krause who introduced the Moog synthesiser to pop music and played with Stevie Wonder. The installation has been created using recordings of natural habitats that Krause has collated over the past 40 years, including Borneo, Costa Rica, Sumatra and Zimbabwe. Featuring over 15,000 species, the 'orchestra', offers a visual representation of what can be heard through Krause's distinctive spectrograms.

About Horniman Museum

Victorian tea trader Frederick John Horniman collected specimens and artefacts from his travels around the world in the 1860's. His personal collection became the foundation of the Horniman Museum, which is now housed in a Charles Harrison Townsend-designed building. Horniman's original collection included natural history specimens, cultural artefacts and musical instruments. More about Horniman Museum
