Greenwich and Docklands International Festival
Nearby Greenwich and Docklands International Festival

The whole of Greenwich comes alive for the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival, a 10-day free festival of street performances, art and dancing in the streets. The festival offers a free and inclusive programme of world class theatre and dance, family entertainment, two extraordinary spectacles and a Greenwich Fair. The GDIF is especially good at putting on outdoor dance spectaculars and last year was as strong as ever with performances by Marc Brew Company, Luca Silvestrini's Protein, Company Chameleon, Up and Over It and Avant Garde Dance. Canary Wharf also had Dancing City, a feature at the festival for 10 years, where Seville's Producciones Imperdibles featured Spanish dancers overhead on a transparent stage. The line-up for 2012 is still to be announced, but with events taking place across Maritime Greenwich, the Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf, Stratford and Woolwich, there's bound to be plenty to keep the expected crowds of 50,000 entertained.About Greenwich
The London Borough of Greenwich lies on the south bank of the Thames. Rich in maritime history, Greenwich also has an outstanding architectural heritage. Many of its buildings are designed by well known English architects, including the Royal Naval College, the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory built by Sir Christopher Wren for King Charles II.
