Halfway to Paradise: The Birth of British RockPhotographs of the musicians who led the way in British Rock in the 1950s and 1960s are displayed in a free exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum's Theatre & Performance Galleries. Halfway to Paradise explores the exceptional work of Harry Hammond, the music photographer who took pictures for the influential music magazine New Musical Express (NME). He documented the emergence of Rock 'n' Roll in post-war Britain capturing images of the most influential musicians from Roy Orbison and Ella Fitzgerald to Cliff Richard and Shirley Bassey. The display features more than 60 portraits, behind the scenes insights and performance shots including iconic images of the Beatles from the 1960s.
