Mr Al-Fayed may have sold the iconic Knightsbridge store but the Harrods Summer Sale goes ahead as per usual, beginning at 9am on 19th June. The well known department store is a national institution and its twice-yearly sales create unusually high levels consumer excitement - some might say hysteria. For the summer sale, over 3,000 temporary staff are drafted in to cope with the frenetic activity over the six floors of designer goods with around 250,000 shoppers expected on the first day alone. There are some real bargains to be had on an impressive range of goods, but if you've got your eye on the 42" Panasonic flat screen TV at half price you'll have to get there early. Be prepared to struggle with the huge crowds - the hunt for discounted goods has only been heightened by current economic conditions.About Harrods
