Henry VIII was almost as famous for his six wives as he was for his
ever increasing stature, his break with Rome and his legendary battles.
Through little known portraits and personal objects relating to each of
his wives, Henry's Women reveals their stories. On display at Hampton Court Palace, Henry's favourite residence, in his Council Chamber -
open to the public for the first time - are portraits of the other
women in his life, his daughters Mary and Elizabeth. The fate of each
wife can be easily remember through the well known ditty: divorced,
beheaded, died... divorced, beheaded, survived. While it's unlikely
they would have been in the same room together when they were alive, we
can now see them side by side. The exhibition of Henry's unconventional
family is part of 'Henry VIII: head and hearts', a series of events,
concerts and talks held at the Palace to mark the 500th anniversary of
the king's accession to the throne.
