Herbie HancockAppearing at the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall for his first ever solo concert and for one night only, jazz legend Herbie Hancock promises to be a highlight of the 10 day London Jazz Festival. A trail blazer in the jazz genre since the 1960s, Hancock "could almost be a sci-fi character", according to the New York Times which marvels at his ability to exist, "simultaneously in multiple dimensions", changing his approach multiple times in a short space of time. He switches from acoustic piano to electronic sounds, revisiting and re-shaping many of his best loved pieces including Canteloupe Island, Maiden Voyage, Watermelon Man and Chameleon as well as playing music specially devised for this concert.
