Londoners are invited into a world of hedonism and debauchery at Herr Kettner's Kabaret. Taking place at the two-story Baroque house, Kettner's, this Weimer Germany inspired evening will take guests back to 1929 - a desperate world where economic collapse and political mayhem coincide with bold new art and even bolder social mores. Encouraged to drown ones sorrows, revellers will have a wealth of tipples to choose from including: delectable cocktails, glasses of bubbly or, for the more daring, a sip from the absinthe fountain. Spread across two floors, the house boasts a number of beautiful rooms that all offer an eclectic mix of entertainment. Guests will be able to roam through the Ballroom, host to live music from jazz six-piece Shirt Tail Stompers and complimentary swing dance lessons from the London Swing Cats; the Kabaret Lounge, engulfed with musical delight in the form of ukulele playing, comical songs, pianists, tap dancing and burlesque; and the Pernod Absinthe Fountain, the Green Fairy provides a master class in her history and a magician offers intimate performances. If all that isn't tempting enough, there will also be the chance to pose in a glamorous vintage photo shoot at the Café Foto and indulge in bellyaching laughter at The Comedy Salon. In order to tickle taste buds, guests will also have the choice between a three-course gourmet menu, accompanied by exclusive Kabaret performances, or a range of bar food to feast on throughout the evening.
About Kettner's
This elegant Baroque building doubles up as a modern French restaurant and champagne bar. Originally a grand hotel built in the 1860s by Auguste Kettner, chef to Napoleon III, Kettner's spreads over two huge floors. Until recently it was an upmarket Pizza Express chain, reputedly the flagship outlet, but a 2008 revamp has tried to restore the je-ne-sais-quoi of its Gallic past. More about Kettner's
