Holy WarriorsPremiering at the Globe on 19th July 2014, David Eldridge's Holy Warriors is a story of holy war and bloody revenge in the struggle for Jerusalem over two millennia of conflict. Directed by James Dacre, the tale takes in the crusade conflict between Christian King Richard the Lionheart and the Muslim leader Saladin, the Romans capturing Jerusalem, and Hamas militants exploding suicide bombs on buses. The play by Eldridge, the playwright behind 'In Basildon', is one of four new plays at Shakespeare's Globe in 2014, alongside works by Richard Bean, Howard Brenton, David Eldridge and poet Simon Armitage who has written The Last Days of Troy based on Homer's Iliad.

About Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

This replica of the Shakespeare's 16th century theatre, reconstructed just 200 yards from its original site, is the brainchild of American actor and director Sam Wanamaker. Built in wood and thatch, using techniques from 400 years ago, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre opened in 1996. More about Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
