Blood, gore and all the interesting bits of trivia are the chief focus of the Horrible Histories books in which Terry Deary so brilliant pitches the past at a level all kids can enjoy. So it's really refreshing to see the Imperial War Museum dust off its displays by partnering up with the author to bring us an exhibition based on his Trenches Handbook. Discover the love lives, lice and lies of the First World War as you explore the stench of the trenches through interactive exhibits and old objects left over from the war. From the woeful wounds to the friendly football match that promoted enemies to put down their weapons - for a short while, anyway - there's plenty to help kids learn about life on the battlefield.About Imperial War Museum
This museum of 20th century warfare offers a thoughtful look at what day-to-day life was like for both citizens and soldiers in the two world wars. The Imperial War Museum has many weapons of war, including rockets, tanks, guns and submarines and some of its most powerful exhibits are the Trench Experience in the World War I gallery and The Blitz Experience in the World War II gallery.
