HowTheLightGetsIn FestivalThe world's largest philosophy and music festival, HowTheLightGetsIn comes to London September. Hosted by the Institute of Art and Ideas and taking place in the grounds of Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath, the festival has a programme of debates, talks, music and comedy, bringing together more than 100 events in total. Witness cognitive scientist Steven Pinker in debate, see human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell take part in The Morality of the Tribe, and watch author Deborah Levy debate mystery and the supernatural. Other guests on the line-up include mathematician and Hawking collaborator Roger Penrose, Nobel prize-winning Amy Chua and philosopher Rebecca Goldstein. Music wise, expect everything from dance music to intimate singer-songwriter gigs.

About Kenwood House

A rich collection of famous paintings are housed within the walls of this neo-Classical villa perched by a lake on top of Hampstead Heath. Works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Turner, Reynolds and Gainsborough form the famous Iveagh Bequest, handed down to the state by the owner of Kenwood House, brewing magnate Edward Cecil Guinness.
