Every Wednesday and Thursday evening, from 6pm, the needles are out at I Knit London where like minded crafty types gather for a free Knitting Group. Their shop on the south side of Waterloo Station is a haven if you have a yearning for yarn and their licenced bar helps to create a relaxed, sociable atmosphere at these twice weekly gatherings. Some of the quirky things the I Knit group have been involved in include hosting the KNIFTAs - an awards ceremony that's a bit like that BAFTAs but where the films feature knitting scenes - and the I Knit tent at Camp Bestival. Tea and cake often feature prominently.
About I Knit London
Stocking a wide range of yarns, needles, patterns and accessories, I Knit London started as a knitting community in Vauxhall in January 2006, meeting at the Beehive pub. The idea for a shop started as a stall in old Spitalfields Market, expanding to permanent premises in Vauxhall in September 2006, it then moved to this Lower Marsh location in 2008.
