Regarded as one of the most unique artists of the twentieth century, Ian Hamilton Finlay's work is almost instantly recognisable due to his distinctive concrete poetry etched on various materials. Tate Britain shines a light on some of his most prolific artworks, concentrating on Finlay's alternative to a neo-classical idiom and his word and image-combined metaphoric sculptures. Juxtaposing neon, wood, stone and bronze sculptures against printed works, the free exhibition runs until mid-February.

About Tate Britain

Overlooking the River Thames, Tate Britain was originally founded through the philanthropy of the sugar magnate Sir Henry Tate. The Tate legacy now encompasses three other galleries around the UK, including Tate Modern also in London. Dedicated to showcasing Britain's artistic talent, Tate Britain is home to the greatest collection of British art from 1500 to the present day. More about Tate Britain
