This year marks the 90th year since the end of hostilities following the First World War. The Imperial War Museum celebrates the landmark anniversary with an exhibition telling the stories of over 90 people - servicemen and civilians - who lived, fought and died during the war, both overseas and on the home front. Though there were other armistices, on November 11, 1918 the significant agreement between the Germans and the Allies to end the war was signed. Among the personal items on show here are a 'King's Shilling' - a soldier's daily wage - a Victoria Cross awarded posthumously to Jack Cornwell and the Military Cross awarded to poet Wilfred Owen. Florence Farmborough, a reporter for the Times, and for BBC Radio, kept a diary while she was nursing on the Russian Front. The original version is displayed here alongside letters and eye witness reports giving visitors a very personal insight into the Great War.
