IncognitoNick Payne, the British playwright behind hit shows 'Constellations', 'The Same Deep Water As Me', and 'Blurred Lines' which played at the National Theatre's Shed at the beginning of the year, has written a new drama in which three interwoven stories about the brain and neuroscience are used to explore notions of personal identity. Incognito weaves together three stories, including one that involves research scientists at Princeton University carrying out an autopsy on Albert Einstein and stealing his brain in an attempt to understand what differentiates a genius. "It's as ambitious as Constellations was structurally, but like a lot of
Nick's work, it's also got a lot of character and heart," said Steven Atkinson HighTide Festival artistic director, where the play will premiere in April 2014. Speaking to The Guardian, Payne said: "I find the brain endlessly fascinating and constantly baffling. As such, I wanted to write a play about it."

About Bush Theatre

London's essential theatre for new writing has been the first step into the big time for dozens of Britain's best playwrights. Challenging, disturbing and original works are often accepted by the Bush Theatre, and find their way to the West End. Moving from the room above O'Neill's pub in Shepherds Bush Green to the former Shepherd's Bush Library building on Uxbridge Road in 2011, the theatre acquired larger premises as well as a laid back bar/library and cafe (open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 11pm), worth a visit even if you're not here to watch a play.
