Beautiful Italian models and trademark FIAT cars will be on display as Italy make the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster their base for the London Olympics. Italy have reportedly spent £1.1 million to transform the QEII in the shadow of Big Ben into the Casa Italia hospitality hub this summer. Chosen because of its superb views over Westminster and the Thames, plus its proximity to the Olympic traffic lanes to the Olympic Park, QEII is expected to be used as a platform to help promote Rome's forthcoming bid to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. Besides the models (men, women and cars), some of Italy's most popular products (including food and wine) will be on display in a special "Made in Italy" expo (open to the general public) on one of the six floors of the massive Conference Centre. Besides being a media hub for the Italians during the Games, the QEII Casa Italia will also boast a performance centre for Italian artists and performers, plus a special VIP zone for high-profile guests.
About The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre
Seven floors of purpose-built meeting space in the heart of Westminster, the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC) is a well known permanent conference space situated opposite Westminster Abbey and within walking distance of the Houses of Parliament. Spaces for hire include the 700-capacity Churchill Auditorium, the Fleming and Whittle Rooms which can be joined together to create a 1,300-capacity space, and the smaller Mountbatten Room and the Westminster Suite which is ideal for seminars and small conferences for up to 140 delegates seated theatre style.
