At the tender age of 18, Jake Bugg has already firmly established himself as an incredibly talented songwriter. Having rejected his friends' proposition to audition for Britain's Got Talent, stating "it doesn't seem genuine", Bugg proceeded to go it alone and his determination paid off. The singer/songwriter's self titled debut album draws on his experiences from growing up in Clifton, the UK's former largest housing estate, and offers some poignant and wistful lyrics. NME give the album an impressive review and describe it as "...rife with uncommon wit, insight and melody". Having already found fans in Noel Gallagher and The Stone Roses, Bugg's future is looking bright. The young star will be stopping by Shepherd's Bush Empire this February to showcase his talents.
About Shepherd's Bush Empire
The Empire is, admittedly, not the most comfortable of venues - the standing area is sunk so far beneath the main stage that anyone under six foot risks painful neck injuries if they want to watch from close-up. Still, the faded grandeur of this former BBC recording theatre, a fantastic acoustic, and the cheerful international population of Shepherd's Bush all add up to a fun live experience, and many musicians cite this as their favourite London venue to perform in.
