Scottish swear merchant Jerry Sadowitz sees his vitriolic run at the Leicester Square Theatre prolonged with six extra dates this March. Be warned, Sadowitz is no Michael McIntyre; instead of happy-clappy observational comedy, you'll get a breathtakingly twisted outpouring of racism and impotent rage, with the words ****, ****, **** and ******** peppering each sentence. Born in the US but brought up in Glasgow, the Alice Cooper lookalike is renowned for his callous, hateful and lurid humour invariably aimed at other people's misfortune or, quite simply, their appearance, creed or background. In short, everyone's a ****ing **** and deserves to be called so. Topics in this show are, inevitably, Madeleine McCann, the Haitian earthquake, Barack Obama, Steven Fry, "our boys" in Afghanistan and Islam - and that's just the opening 10 minutes. "Show Sadowitz a scared cow and it'll be mince before you reach the exit," says The Guardian. But obscenities and misanthropic abuse are not the only arrows in his quiver: Sadowitz is a ****ing brilliant magician as well. An expert in close-up magic and baffling card tricks, Sadowitz's skills have often been discredited due to - you've guessed it - his sick humour and four-letter expletives. Which is a ****ing shame because he's **** hot (even if he often strips naked while performing). Warning: on his website, Sadowitz states that "all women attending these shows must be prepared to **** me after the show".About Leicester Square Theatre
In 2002 this compact, 350 seater opened with Taboo, Boy George's musical trawl through Thatcher's 80s and his own turbulent career, a production that ran for well over a year. The Leicester Square Theatre seems to have succeeded in carving out a niche for itself amongst the many grand Edwardian playhouses and cavernous auditoriums of London's Theatreland.
