Having been press ganged and taken from his home in Jamaica, John Simmons became a sailor aboard Admiral Lord Nelson's HMS Victory. An immersive experience hosted by the National Maritime Museum, John Simmons: A Sailor's Trafalgar Story tells the emotional tale of what it was like to be a black sailor in Nelson's navy and the surprising freedoms he found out at sea.

About National Maritime Museum

Located in the heart of Greenwich, the National Maritime Museum has a monumental mission: to showcase mankind's association with the sea. The collection dates back to 1823 when a National Gallery of Naval Art was established, and the museum is housed in an elegant building which used to be an asylum.
