Iran and the US have finally achieved something of an entente cordiale with this delightful on-going collaboration between the Grammy Award-nominated Iranian maestro Kayhan Kalhor and the adventurous New York-based string quartet Brooklyn Rider. At this one off Barbican Hall gig, Kahlor - who plays a traditional four-stringed, upright Persian fiddle called a 'kamancheh' - and the quartet perform cross-cultural nuggets of beautifully elegiac meditations and improvisational energy from their Silent City album of 2008.
