King LearSimon Russell Beale is King Lear in the Sam Mendes directed production of Shakespeare's great tragedy at the National Theatre, staged from January 2014. The Skyfall director instructs a cast which includes Kate Fleetwood as Goneril and Anna Maxwell Martin as Regan, Lear's two fawning daughters while Olivia Vinall plays Cordelia, his third and favourite daughter who refuses to play along and profess blinding love for her father. In an act of brilliant casting Adrian Scarborough, who made his big-screen debut in 1994 in 'The Madness of King George', is the Fool to Russell Beale's Lear.
