Listen very carefully, I will say zis only once: There's a special French soiree at OEUF to celebrate Bastille Day this July. Sacre bleu, you say, this sounds magnifique! Tell me more. Well, ok, if you insist. In recent years, La Vie En Rose has attracted the likes of Justice, Miss Kitten and Chloe; this year, hoisting the Tricolore over the clubland ramparts is none other than Parisian legend de house DJ Gregory, the grand fromage of Defected Records. Support comes from chic chanteuse / minimal electro house DJ Sophie Belluka Sparks - who's as mignonne as her name is bizarre - and, oddly enough, a Scottish duo called Sandeman & Mr Dickie. For the purists, there will be a set from French electro indie cabaret band Make The Girl Dance, whose video for their latest single Baby Baby Baby features three sexy French babes catwalk naked down Paris's Rue Montorgueil at 2pm on a Thursday. Tres cool, n'est-ce pas? Certainly bodes well for the party, which starts on Saturday evening and runs right through until Sunday afternoon (hopefully some croissants will be thrown in at breakfast). The reason for this annual homage for all things French is not absolutely clear, but - besides our neighbours being both cooler and better looking than us Brits - London is effectively the 5th biggest French city in terms of population and so it's definitely a bonne idée. As Eurostar now comes into nearby King's Cross, EGG says even more real Frenchies will flock to La Vie En Rose in cohorts. Despite this hopeful logic - would you zip over the channel for a massive St George's Day piss-up? - this promises to be a nuit tip-top mega chouette (or as the French say, un truc de ouf). So, we'll have no Gallic shrugging of the shoulders, s'il vous plait. Dust off that beret, get your cul down to EGG ce soir - yes, even you Rene - and Vive la France!
