The British ladybird may be facing an uncertain future but kids can help by joining a London Zoo backed campaign to set up a network of Little Ladybird Spotters. For two weeks children can visit the ladybirds in the insect enclosure at the zoo and learn all about how British ladybirds are under threat from harlequin ladybirds. Woolworths - who've recently rescued their ladybird brand of clothing - have come on board to help, setting up an internet site where kids can send in their ladybird pictures via text (standard network rates apply). Using the information the children submit, scientists can monitor the situation and work out whether there really is something to worry about. They're tricky to spot so remember to keep your eyes peeled - and take your camera with you - next time you're in the garden.
