More than 90 photographs by 30 artists from 13 countries go on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in Light from the Middle East: New Photography, the first major museum exhibition of contemporary photography from and about the Middle East. Documenting and responding to changes in the social and political landscape of the region over the last 20 years, the exhibition features images by Newsha Tavakolian, Hassan Hajjaj and Nermine Hammam whose recent work includes the series 'Uphekka' made following the revolution in Egypt. Hammam reworks photographs of Egyptian soldiers taken during the 2011 protests in Tahrir Square, Cairo, and transports them to multicoloured landscapes far removed from their original location.
