Combining grace, agility, beauty and creativity, the London 2012 Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics competition takes place at Wembley Arena in north-west London from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 August. Drawing inspiration from classical ballet, Rhythmic Gymnastics is one of two all-women at the Olympics (the other being Synchronised Swimming) and is split into Team and Individual events. Using hand apparatus such as a ball, clubs, hoops and ribbons, the competitors combine dance and gymnastic ability on a spring floor measuring 13m by 13m. Judges award points in three categories - difficulty, artistry and execution.
