Giving special attention to films with a budget of less than £100,000 and those by first and second time directors, the London Independent Film Festival promotes films that are unlikely to receive distribution and promotion through other mediums. Back for 2013, the festival will showcase the best of indie filmmaking from both the UK and across the world. The feature length film programme includes The Sweet Shop, a simple story of love and the cult of celebrity, directed by Ben Myers; Rumblestrips, directed by John Adams and Toby Poser, this tells the story of a mother who, following her arrest for growing marijuana, takes her daughters on an RV trip; and Hotspot, Vitor Vilela directs this film that explores what happens if you're trapped in a social network. The festival will also screen a vast line-up of shorts and music videos.

About Shortwave Cinema

Shortwave films, a company whose primary objective was to promote emerging film and video artists, have set up this independent cinema in Bermondsey Square. As you'd expect from a group of creatives who've filmed in the Ballroom at Lost Vagueness in Glastonbury and who managed the first Bermondsey Street Festival, the films screened are of the independent and cult films variety.
