The Olympic Archery competition will take place at Lord's Cricket Ground, less than half a mile west of Regent's Park, over an eight-day period from Friday 27 July to Friday 3 August. The Men's and Women's competition will be played in knockout format with matches played over the best of five sets, with each set consisting of three arrows per archer. The final two archers left in each competition will go head-to-head for the gold medal, with the beaten semi-finalists battling it out for bronze. The men's and women's team competitions will also be a knockout event, with teams of three archers competing against each other in a best-of-24-arrows format. Lord's should prove a stunning setting for such an historic sport, with the archers shooting from in front of the Victorian pavilion and across the hallowed cricket square towards the modern, UFO-inspired media centre.About London Olympics: Lord's Cricket Ground
Event: ArcheryIf cricket was an Olympic sport, then Team GB would certainly be favourites for the gold medal. As it is, the spiritual "home of cricket" will be used for the London 2012 Archery competition. Located to the west of Regent's Park at St John's Wood, Lord's Cricket Ground is the perfect choice as venue for a sport even more traditional than cricket.
