How ironic would it be if Scotland's Andy Murray wins the Olympic Tennis gold medal for Team GB at Wimbledon just weeks after falling short once again in the All England Club's annual Grand Slam? Yes, three weeks after the Wimbledon final at Centre Court, the focus will return to S19 with the men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles Olympic events, which will be played at Wimbledon from 28 July until 5 August. The reigning Olympic champion and a bona fide grass court maestro, Rafael Nadal, will probably be favourite for the men's gold medal, but the Spaniard was beaten in the 2011 Wimbledon final by Novak Djokovic, while six-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer can never be discounted. Plus, there's always that man Murray... For the women singles in Beijing, Russia completed a clean sweep of the medals with Elena Dementieva leading the way, while the men's mixed doubles was won by the Swiss pairing of Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka. The Williams sisters won the women's doubles for the USA and London 2012 will be the first time in Olympic history that there is a mixed doubles competition. All Olympic matches are the best of three sets, although the men's singles final will be the best of five. Another exception will be mixed doubles, where if the match is level on one set all, a first-to-10 tie-break will be played instead of a deciding set.
