Feeling experimental? Head to East London's hippest arts venues any time from 7th March to 1st of April and you'll be in for a 'celebration of words, text and language'. No form of verbal expression is left out of the London Word Festival, whether it's stand-up, shadow-puppetry, performance poetry or screen printing nuns, you'll find it all at a handful of venues in East London including Stoke Newington International Airport (not fit for flights), Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, Toynbee Theatre and The Courtyard Theatre. Established in 2007, the festival is an eclectic mix of spoken word, new fiction and the chance to get your words printed for the price of a bag of chips. The line-up includes John Hegley, Robin Ince and Josie Long whose '100 Days' initiative prompts people to do one new thing each day for 100 days. Poet / filmmaker Iain Sinclair introduces a newly commissioned play, 'Shad Thames, Broken Wharf', at the Jamboree, while Toby Litt is among the authors at 'Avant! Noir', a night of new fiction, comic art and music. All these well worth seeing wordy events take place are listed in full on www.londonwordfestival.com.About Stoke Newington International Airport
No airplanes take off from Stoke Newington International Airport. And there's no point looking up departure times here. Instead turn up for live performances by local artists, impresarios, musicians, and theatrical types. The former warehouse space can be hired for rehearsals, performances, workshops or any other thing that you fancy; and there are four studios attached housing artists and musicians.
