It might take the Eurostar up to three hours, but try cycling all the way to Paris and those hours become days. The fourth London to Paris Bike Ride takes place this July, presenting riders with the challenge of 300 kilometres of undulating terrain over three days of racing. While the professionals battle it out in the Pyrenean stages of this year's Tour de France, amateurs will be donning lycra and pedalling over less mountainous, but still demanding roads, to raise money for Medecins du Monde UK. If you're into your bike riding, this is an excellent way of combining a passion with some sightseeing - as the route takes the participants through the delightful countryside of south England and north France before finishing underneath the iconic Eiffel Tower after three days in the saddle. The start of the ride is in Bexley, Kent. Email events.assistant@medicinsdumonde.org.uk for an information pack and check www.classictours.co.uk for a route itinerary.
