One of the regular Easter Monday traditions, the annual Harness Horse Parade offers a delightful reminder of our city’s heritage. From giant cart horses and sturdy Shetland ponies, to dinky donkeys and horse-drawn dray rides, an astounding array of both horses and carriages will be on show throughout the day. The range of gorgeous old carts, carriages and engines is unmatched and will be sure to keep the whole family absorbed for the whole day.
Trade stands and catering facilities will be on site to accompany the events.
Please note, while the parade normally takes place in Battersea Park, this year it will be held at the South of England Show Ground (more details below).
The 2006 parade timetable* is as follows…
9:30: Veterinary and Farriery Inspection
9:45: Judging of Light Horses, Harness and Vehicles
10:45: Judging of Heavy Horses, Harness and Vehicles
12 noon: Parade of all Exhibits
14:00: Finish.
* timings may change so please confirm nearer the date.
This is a unique and fascinating Easter event that presents an intriguing insight into London life centuries ago. |
