David Suchet, Laurie Metcalf and Kyle Soller star in Eugene O'Neill's semi-autobiographical portrait Long Day's Journey Into Night, the tale of a family haunted by the demons of the past. Having wowed audiences and critics alike with his performances in Arthur Miller's All My Sons at the Apollo, celebrated actor Suchet returns to the London theatre scene in Long Day's Journey Into Night. A gripping family drama, the play tells the story of James Tryone, his wife Mary and their sons Jamie and Edmund as they live out a long summer's day in Connecticut. The dysfunction of the family is explored as it transpires that all three males are alcoholics and Mary is addicted to morphine. The play is widely considered to be the masterwork of American playwright O'Neill, who posthumously received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the work. Directed by Anthony Page.About Apollo Theatre
The first West End theatre of the Edwardian Age, the Apollo has a pleasingly over-the-top design that takes in facades, statuary, and a gypsy coat-of-arms that was intended to bring good luck.
