Essex-born author Martina Cole's novel Two Women, about domestic abuse and the violent underworld of London's East End, appears at the Theatre Royal with a strong cast including Frances Albery and Marc Bannerman. Three of her fourteen books - Dangerous Lady, The Jump and The Take - have been made into TV dramas yet despite her novels selling in their millions this is the first time the best-selling crime writer has ever had one of her works produced on stage, a transition facilitated by Patrick Prior's adaptation. The cast, between them, has racked up an impressive list of TV credits - Frances Albery recently appeared in the BBC drama Hunter, and Marc Bannerman played Gianni di Marco in EastEnders as well as Cerys Matthews' love interest in the jungle. Victoria Alcock's long-running role as Julie Saunders in Bad Girls should prepare her well for Two Women which sees the central character Sue Dalston put in a cell with murdress Matilda Enderby.
