'Master Harold'... and the boysA semi-autobiographical play by Tony Award-winning playwright Athol Fugard, 'Master Harold'... and the boys comes to the National Theatre this September. Set in 1950s apartheid South Africa, the play tells the story of an unlikely friendship between Sam and Willie and Master Harold. On a long rainy afternoon in St George's Park Tea Room, Port Elizabeth, Sam and Willie are practicing their steps for the finals of the ballroom dancing championship when Hally, aka Master Harold, arrives from school to hide out in his parents' tea room.

About National Theatre: Lyttelton Theatre

The Lyttelton is one of three theatres which make up the National Theatre. It was built in a proscenium style, but has thoroughly modern sightlines and acoustics. There really is no bad seat here as there are no circle rails or view-blocking pillars. More about National Theatre: Lyttelton Theatre
