| 2008 is shaping up to be Mat Collishaw's year. In May he showed at the new Spring Studios with the disturbing work 'Deliverance' showing blood soaked survivors fleeing a devastating disaster. Next, Tracey Emin chose his piece 'The Old Fashioned Way, 1992' for the room she curated at the Royal Academy's current Summer Exhibition. Now he launches his first solo show at the Haunch of Venison with an exhibition of UV lights, projections and strobing displaying images of Victorian child prostitutes and fairies. It's not for those of a nervous disposition, but there's beauty in the transience of his flickering images and a message behind provocative, explicit works like 'Throbbing Gristle'. |
