The Mayor's Thames Festival Fireworks display brings the two-day Thames Festival to an end with a spectacular bang as more than a ton of pyrotechnics explode over the River Thames in just ten minutes. The build-up to the fireworks sees a colourful night procession featuring 2000 costumed performers travelling along Victoria Embankment and via Blackfriars Bridge. Musicians, dancers, drummers and performers from across the country and the world take to the streets with lanterns, illuminated costumes, tambourines and whistles, finishing behind the National Theatre as the finale to this annual carnival and street spectacle which celebrate the River Thames. You can expect large crowds to line up along the river for the fireworks display but with the stretch from the two barges between Blackfriars and Waterloo Bridge spanning almost half a kilometre there's plenty of opportunity to find a space.
