Michael Craig-Martin: Transience He was an influential teacher, working at Goldsmiths during the rise of the YBAs in the 1990s, and now Michael Craig-Martin - a well known artist in his own right - gets his first solo show at a London public institution since 1989. In Transience, the Serpentine Gallery brings together works from 1981 to 2015, including his era-defining representations of once familiar yet obsolete technology. His depictions of everyday objects - laptops, games consoles, black-and-white televisions and incandescent lightbulbs - highlight the increasing transience of technological innovation.

About Serpentine Gallery

Found in the middle of leafy Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, there are two galleries that go by the name of The Serpentine, the original Serpentine Gallery, established in 1970, and the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, a 5 minute walk away across The Serpentine Bridge, was added in 2013.
