Micky Flanagan: The Out Out Show

Cockney comic Micky Flanagan plays two May dates at the Bloomsbury Theatre as part of his Out Out tour. Drawing from the best of his last (and, come to think of it, first) two Edinburgh shows - What Chance Change? and Spiel - Flanagan's latest effort is named after his infamous "Going out out" gag that made its bow on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow last year. A subsequent advert from directory enquiry company 118 118, which hinged on the notion of "going out out" as opposed to simply "going out", led to Flanagan's representatives taking legal action. The 42-year-old came to comedy late, his debut show in 2007 telling of his rise from working class East End lad to arty-farty East Dulwich resident - and earning him a best newcomer nomination at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe. Comedy glory beckoned, with Frank Skinner claiming Flanagan was "arguably the funniest comedian in the world". Unfortunately, Flanagan has seemingly stalled on producing new material and this show, although no doubt updated with some fresh gags, draws primarily on stuff we've all heard before. But the likeable Flanagan has a firm fan base and the first of these two shows has already sold out.
