Monotones I and II / The Two Pigeons
THIS EVENT ENDED ON THE 5TH DECEMBER 2015

In a mixed bill the Royal Opera House pairs two pieces by Frederick Ashton, his strikingly modernist ballet diptych Monotones I and II and The Two Pigeons, the story of a wayward young man blind to the value of what is right in front him. Sublime music by Erik Satie accompanies mesmerizing choreography in modernist ballet Monotones I and II serving as a counterpoint to The Two Pigeons, not seen at the Royal Opera House since 1985. In this comic piece, Ashton explores the nature of love.
About Royal Opera House
This impressive building in the heart of Covent Garden has been playing host to major stars of the classical music world since 1858. The third theatre to be located on this site, today's Royal Opera House is the result of a reconstruction in the 1990s (although the main auditorium is part of the original building).
