Following a successful run at the Harold Pinter Theatre, 'Spamalot' is now transferring to The Playhouse. With a book by original Python Eric Idle, this is a faithful rendition of the original surreal comedy, complete with killer rabbits, farmyard ballistics, faithful retainers, hard-fighting champions, holy hand grenades and Knights Who Say 'Ni'. At the same time as following the pattern and plot of the original, 'Spamalot' is full of fresh jokes thanks to a string of all-new musical numbers penned by Idle and John Du Prez. Idle is of course a wonderful lyricist and this musical incorporates all the best British traditions of self-mockery, heroic failure, pomposity and falling over that Python fans will expect. Great ticket deals for Spamalot are now available. The blend of surreal humour, lavish sets, and spectacularly silly song routines won the hearts of millions of new fans in the USA - as well as the Tony Award for Best Musical, and a Grammy for the score. I'd Do Anything winner Jodie Prenger stars as The Lady of the Lake in this triumphant homecoming for a slice of British humour that conquered the world.
About Playhouse Theatre
A short step away from the main strip of West End theatres, the Playhouse's stylish curved facade is rather lost among the towering architecture of Charing Cross and Embankment. If the exterior is a little too restrained however, the same cannot be said for the auditorium, which is a sumptuous tribute to theatrical excess. More about Playhouse Theatre
