My Perfect MindDirected by Kathryn Hunter and performed by Edward Petherbridge and Paul Hunter, 'My Perfect Mind' is a Told by an Idiot production that takes a moving yet comical exploration of the resilience of the human spirit. Once cast as King Lear, acclaimed actor Edward Petherbridge got to work on his rehearsals. However, on the second day he suffered a stroke that left him barely able to move. As he struggled to make a recovery, he made a fascinating discovery: the entire role of Lear still existed word for word in his mind. To go from being cast as one of Shakespeare's most revered roles to being helpless in a hospital bed, Petherbridge could never have foreseen the tragedies and comedies that lay in store for him.

About The Young Vic

Knocked together out of breeze blocks for a minimal budget in 1970, Lawrence Olivier's experimental theatre was intended to last for five years, and provide an inspiration for the new generation of performers. But this was an experiment that worked and, years later, the Young Vic remains south London's premier venue for the contemporary, the shocking, the controversial, and the bizarre.
