New Order: British Art TodayFeaturing 17 young artists based in the UK, New Order: British Art Today continues the Saatchi Gallery's 25-year-long support of emerging artists and the King's Road gallery's drive to make contemporary art as widely available as possible to both a British and international audience. The free exhibition, which takes place over an entire floor, offers an arresting insight into the nature of Britain today. There are nods to recent spikes of national cohesion - the 2011 Royal Wedding and the 2012 Summer Olympics, for example - which are viewed as nebulous blasts of pageantry, quickly silenced and often soured. The exhibition also includes sculptural forms that owe a debt to American minimalism, paintings that mine British caricature from the 18th century, the iconography of earthly power (kings and politicians), everyday elements from ordinary life (tattoos, underpants, banana skins), industrial materials as well as traditional oil paint and gouache. Artists including Greta Alfaro, Nathan Cash Davidson, Wendy Myers and Guy Rusha.

About Saatchi Gallery

The Saatchi Gallery re-opened on 9th October 2008 in the former military barracks of the Duke of York's Headquarters. The 70,000 square feet represents a significantly larger space than its previous 40,000 occupancy at County Hall. Ousted from the Southbank site in 2005, the re-location of the gallery had long been speculated upon and hotly anticipated. More about Saatchi Gallery
